Dumb Ways to Die
I was fortunate enough to be working at McCann when this project rolled through the creative department. Whilst I obviously wasn’t the creative lead on the job, being able to contribute as a designer was one of the highlights of my career. It was one of those projects that never felt like work and I learned a lot about how a potentially average job can be elevated to excellence.

I was asked to adapt the youtube video into a children’s book. Thousands of copies were distributed to school children around Melbourne. It was really cool to see my friends uploading videos of their kids to social media and using the book to sing along.

I wish I’d recorded the original website that was designed. I only have a still image now but the original version was animated and kids were able to interact with the characters and have fun sending them to their deaths.

I had the idea to create a mural at a train station so that kids could generate content for us as they interacted with our messaging. It was only a small piece of the puzzle but there was thousands of posts to social media which came in really handy when we built the case studies.
